Press Release: Orbit Logic to provide Planning Software for Canadian JSSP Ground Station
GREENBELT, MD, (November 5, 2012) -- – Orbit Logic announced today that it will deliver collection planning software for Canada’s Joint Space Support Project (JSSP). Orbit Logic has received a task order from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) in Canada for a license of its collection planning software, which will be configured by Orbit Logic to support imagery collection planning for DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 high resolution commercial imaging satellites. MDA engineers will integrate the Orbit Logic software into the overall JSSP mobile ground station solution it is delivering to the Canadian military. Orbit Logic’s collection planning software performs high fidelity satellite modeling and imagery collection planning, as well as contact scheduling, order tracking, recorder management and downlink planning. Orbit Logic’s user-friendly planning software solution for JSSP includes 2D and 3D planning maps and animation in Satellite Tool Kit (STK) from Analytical Graphics to enhance operator situational awareness and support manual adjustments to algorithm-generated plans.
The Joint Space Support Project> will enhance the ability of commanders and their staff to plan and conduct Canadian Forces (CF) operations at the tactical and operational levels. The CF requires dependable, timely and accurate surveillance information within their deployed areas of interest. To help meet this requirement, the Joint Space Support Project will develop and implement a mobile surveillance and reconnaissance capability that will allow download of imagery directly from commercial satellites as they pass over areas of interest. The high-resolution imagery will be unclassified, timely, and exploited directly in theatre to support Task Force missions. For domestic operations, these images could be distributed to disaster relief, security, or other Government organizations requiring access to timely information derived from space.
