Orbit Logic's Solution
Orbit Logic has responded to the collection planning challenge by developing a system that integrates a high-fidelity spacecraft simulator with constraint computations and a battery of optimization algorithms. The result from this system is a collection plan that gets the most valuable and viable imagery for any defined planning window. This system is called the Collection Planning System (CPS) and consists of the Collection Planning and Analysis Workstation (CPAW) and Collection Planning Manager (CPM).
Orbit Logic has developed CPAW and CPM as configurable COTS software products which can incorporate the particular system models of any customer-specific spacecraft, its imaging camera, and its operations concept. Available in different configurations depending on the scope of the planning process, investing in a CPS solution from Orbit Logic offers the following key benefits:
Operationally-Proven Heritage
Collection planning solutions from Orbit Logic have years of operational heritage on the OrbView-3 and QuickBird satellites operated by GeoEye and DigitalGlobe, respectively. Orbit Logic has also delivered collection planning software for the WorldView-1, WorldView-2,and GeoEye-1 satellites.
Maximized Imagery Value
With its high-fidelity modeling of all relevant parameters to collection planning, CPAW consistently provides high value collection plans which are created in a matter of minutes. Optimized planning is one of the linchpins in a successful, and profitable, imaging system.
Low-Cost and Low-Risk Development
CPAW and CPM are COTS software products that may be configured entirely by the customer, eliminating the risk, schedule, and cost of new software development.
Ready for Operations Quickly
A CPAW workstation for a new satellite can be configured and running in a matter of days. As a result, collection planning can be up and running throughout an imaging system's development which can lead to a better designed and tested system.
Scalable for Performance and Multiple Satellites
For a single satellite or small systems, collection planning can be performed on a standalone CPAW workstations. For those customers who require maximum collection planning performance and/or lights-out automation, Orbit Logic can provide the Collection Planning manager and multiple CPAW workstations for a distributed clustered computing solution. This is generally required for headquarters planning systems or for those imagery customers who have access to multiple satellites.
