Optimized Scheduling
CPAW utilizes a competition between a battery of optimization algorithms to create the best collection plan. Each algorithm incorporates a different approach to collection planning. Each algorithm attempts to maximize its scoring based on a common (and configurable) Figure-of-Merit (FOM). Ultimately, the collection plan with the highest FOM score is chosen.
Algorithms
Orbit Logic's proprietary optimization algorithms (9 currently) attack the collection planning problem in different ways. Some provided better solutions when the targets are close together while others excel when the targets are spread apart. All algorithms are designed to always provide a valid collection plan even if manually interrupted or timed-out. The algorithms normally complete their processing in a matter of minutes (specific performance is dependent upon target deck size, planning window duration, plug-in slew model performance, and other factors)
Figure-of-Merit
The FOM is composed of a term evaluating the efficiency of the overall plan and a summation of the scores for each image scan included in the plan. The weighting for each of the terms can be changed by adjusting the constants shown in the FOM window below. Note that the FOM can include business specific goals such as image order priority, order area, and expiration date. Orbit Logic is able to add additional factors to meet specific customer requirements.
